McDonald’s is partnering with UberEats

McDonald’s has partnered with UberEats to deliver food to customers in 3,500 McDonald’s restaurants in the United States by the end of June.

McDonald’s has a strong advantage in the delivery game, as almost 75 percent of the US population lives within three miles of one of the restaurants.

“Through delivery, we’ll bring the McDonald’s experience to more customers in their homes, their dorm rooms, their workplaces and beyond,” said Stephen Easterbrook, President and CEO of McDonald’s. “Encouraged by early results in the U.S., delivery is resonating well, particularly with our younger consumers. Sixty per cent of orders are placed during the evening or late night, which provides an opportunity to grow day parts where we have underutilized capacity. And because speed does matter, we’re getting food from order inception to the customer’s door in less than 30 minutes on average.”

Customers place their orders via the UberEats mobile app or UberEats.com, and delivery time is estimated at around 15-20 minutes. The service has been dubbed ‘McDelivery’.

The service first started in Florida at the start of the year, and has since spread to Chicago, Columbus, Los Angeles, and Phoenix.
