What’s on your menu this summer? As the temperature rises, customers are always looking for new and tasty ways to beat the heat. Quite a few franchises like Dunkin’ Donuts, Krispy Kreme, and McDonald’s are cashing in on the change in the weather by adding some fresh new summer drinks to their menus.

At participating Dunkin’ Donuts locations, new Frozen Hot Chocolate frozen drinks have been added to the usual line-up. The inspiration for the latest frozen drinks is putting an indulgent wintery twist on Dunkin’ Donuts’ Coolatta staple line.

“Over the past few years, we’ve seen a significant increase in the popularity of our frozen beverages, not just in warm-weather months but all throughout the year,” said Dunkin’ Brands Chief Global Marketing & Innovation Officer John Costello in the related press release, hinting that the new frozen hot chocolate drink could be added to the permanent line-up. “Our frozen beverages provide our guests with the refreshment and the extra boost they need to get through their busy days, and we are excited to offer our new Frozen Hot Chocolate as yet another delicious cool choice to keep people running.”

Krispy Kreme is also beating the heat with rich indulgences of their own – according to Restaurant News, the brand is trying out donut-based milkshakes at five of their North Carolina locations, made with soft serve ice cream and chunks of real Krispy Kreme donuts in flavors including chocolate cake and raspberry filled. Not to be outdone, McDonald’s has also expanded its frozen drinks line with the recently released frozen strawberry lemonade. With everything from traditional summer flavors like strawberries and lemonade to wintery twists like donuts and hot chocolate locked down, we can’t wait to see what franchises will come up with next.
